(Persistent Disturbances in Eating Behaviors)
About Disordered Eating:
Disordered eating is characterized by severe and persistent disturbances in eating behaviors, often emerging during adolescence or early adulthood. It is quite prevalent, affecting approximately 9% of the U.S. population. A multidisciplinary team involving the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) assists in developing an individualized treatment plan, which includes screening for disordered eating, diagnosis, and treatment.
