Trauma Therapy Modalities
About FLASH and 4-Blinks
According to Thomas Mansfield the creator of FLASH The Flash Technique (FT) is a recently developed evidenced-based therapeutic intervention for reducing the disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories.
The "Flash" refers to a brief, non-intense exposure to a traumatic memory. Unlike many conventional trauma therapy interventions, FT is a minimally intrusive option that does not require the client to consciously engage with the traumatic memory. This allows the client to process traumatic memories without feeling distress. As an adjunct to the EMDR preparation phase or any exposure-based treatment, it makes it possible to process memories that would otherwise be intolerable or overwhelming to the client.
4-Blinks version of Flash is and adaptation created by Thomas Zimmerman to be used in the same way as Flash but simplified for both the Therapist and the Client to utilize.
Recommended For:
Both Flash and 4 Blinks can be used for a single recent event that is causing a person distress or to reduce the intensity of multiple traumatic events before reprocessing with EMDR. They can both be used as stand-alone modalities or in conjunction with EMDR.
Qualified Providers at Red Sands:
