Parenting Support

About Parenting Support:

This service is all about facing the many challenges of parenthood. Whether you are welcoming a newborn, navigating teen years, or managing unique dynamics like adoption, single parenting, or raising a child with mental health challenges, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Our Parenting Support service is designed to help you feel like a leader in your relationship with your child, establish reasonable expectations, and develop practical strategies for every stage of development.

Recommended For:

This is a service we recommend to any parent, especially those whose families may feel “different”; facing things such as neurodiversity, mental health challenges, medically complex single-parent homes, adoption, foster children, blended families, divorce, etc. If you want more reassurance and/or clarity in how you show up as a parent, this service can help you.

More about This Service

How & where

This service is commonly conducted in an individual therapy format, with one parent as the client. However, this service could be done in couples therapy to allow the perspective of both parents (especially in co-parenting/divorced households). If the therapist sees fit, other therapies like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a service in which parent and child attend together, may be recommended. Each of these options are available at our St. George, Utah office.

Can't make it to our office or prefer to connect from home? This service is also available through our easy-to-use Telehealth portal. Contact us for details!

What to Expect

For the best care, it is vital for us to understand your family system: including you, your spouse or partner, and each of your children & their individual needs.

Because every family dynamic is different, the structure of care varies; for example, care may mean one parent coming in weekly to navigate specific parenting struggles. Regardless of the setup, your therapist will assess your current parenting style and how it impacts each family member. From there, your therapist will collaborate with you to create a customized plan to help you reach your goals and show up as the parent(s) you want to be in your home.

This service can also help you:

  • Know how to connect with your child.

  • Feel confident in how you show up when in conflict with your child.

  • Understand your child’s development and reasonable expectations to have.

  • How to let go of comparison to other parents.

  • Understand how you were raised and how that may be showing up in how you parent your own children.

  • Learn how to not let your child’s dysregulation quickly dysregulate you.

  • And much more.
